Started in Bristol in 1990 by journalist and keen cyclist Martin Whitfield, CycleCity Guides has become the UK’s largest producer of urban cycle maps and guides, with over 100 maps to its name. CycleCity Guides produces maps for local authorities across the UK, for local cycling campaigns and for Sustrans.
			Recent years have seen an increasing demand for combined walking, cycling and public transport maps. These have included maps for TravelSmart, an individual marketing initiative by Sustrans in conjunction with a number of local authorities, which seeks to get people out of their cars by providing them with public transport, walking and cycling information and routes. CycleCity Guides produced the UK’s first TravelSmart map for our home town of Frome, Somerset, helping see a 6% decrease on car trips across the pilot group.

			Recent advances in digital mapping technology have allowed us to produce an infinite variety of styles and designs for maps and leaflets. Maps are clean and clear, highlighting just what is important for the intended user group, and leaving out unnecessary information. The digital bases are easily updated to include new information, changes to road and cycle route layouts etc. Map bases can also be modified to show different information for different purposes, or to be centred on different sites.
